STRONGEST VIKING

Starke Viking "Strongest Viking" is a Swedish amateur competition in strongman/strongwoman that premiered in 2017. 
Since then, we have organized hundreds of competitions, entertained tens of thousands of people, and opened the doors to strength sports in an exciting and unique way for many women and men!
We are proud of what Starke Viking has become and what it has come to mean for us and our participants.

THE RULES

  1. Starke Viking is competed completely raw. That means: barefoot, without accessories such as belts, adhesive/tacky, magnesium, wraps, or similar items. We all prefer to compete in Viking clothing, but it is not a requirement!
  2. All participants automatically give their consent to be photographed and filmed, and for these photos/films to be used in contexts related to Starke Viking and events in which Starke Viking participates.
  3. All participants compete at their own risk.
  4. Starke Viking is a friendly competition that follows the old strongman tradition: we compete WITH each other, cheer for each other, and behave as good sportsmen. Poor behavior will result in immediate disqualification!
  5. Times, events, and rules are subject to change.
  6. We have a zero-tolerance policy for drugs, performance-enhancing substances, and the like. Competing while intoxicated is also prohibited.
  7. We reserve the right to deny anyone the opportunity to compete, at any time, for any reason.
  8. In Starke Viking’s camp, quiet hours begin at 10:00 PM to allow participants and organizers to sleep. During quiet hours, conversation by the fire must remain at a low, normal volume, and if songs are sung, they must be done at a considerate volume. Absolute silence in the camp is enforced at midnight. The last person is responsible for extinguishing the fire.

CLASSES

BEGINNER "Nybörjare"
You may not have competed in any major competition—or at all—if you wish to participate in the Beginner class, "The Light Class."
If you have won The Light Class, you will automatically move up to Experienced Amateur. The Beginner class is unisex but heavier than Valkyrie.

EXPERIENCED AMATEUR "Erfaren Amatör"
In the Experienced Amateur class, "The Heavy Class," you may not have competed in multiple major competitions or qualifiers for SSM/SSK. You also may not be or have been sponsored. This is somewhat a matter of conscience for the participants, but we in the organizing group will do what we can to keep the competitions as balanced as possible.

VALKYRIE "Valkyria"
The VALKYRIE class is for women only.
We want to promote strength sports for women by creating a major and interesting competition for them. All women are welcome here, regardless of prior experience.

PROFESSIONALS
This is the class for those of you who compete often and at heavy levels. No upper limit. Open to everyone of all genders.

BIRKA 
TRIAL BY FIRE "Elddopet"
A unique class for Birka, for those of us who are a little crazier than most and love to push ourselves to the limit. The Trial by Fire at Birka is a four-day competition. Open to all. Each day, participants are tested in three to five—or more—events. Each event is more entertainingly brutal than the last, or perhaps the exact same event repeated in five stages over four days—who knows. The total points are the only thing that matters! These are the most prestigious podium spots within Starke Viking.

ELDERS "Åldermän"
In the ELDERS class, the age requirement is 60+. Despite the name, both women and men are welcome to compete!
This class focuses more on grip strength and static events.Some competitions have their own rules and may also be completely open to everyone.

HOW TO SIGN UP TO COMPETE

First: Read the rules! We don´t have many, but we hold to them.

Check the calendar for what competition you wish to compete in. We will try to have an up to date English version here as soon as possible. 

E-mail info@starkeviking.se with your name, what class and competition you wish to sign up to. We will help you in english to make sure all goes smoothly.
We have a 25 Euro sign-up fee that is to be paid through paypal unless you have the Swedish Swish. 
Once that is in and you have gotten confirmation from us via mail your sign up is done and you are on your way to become a Strongest Viking competitor!
